Georg Jensen Sterling Jewelry, Denmark

Linda loves the arts & crafts movement, and loves the sculptural hand crafted Georg Jensen Jewelry. The designs are wonderful art nouveau designs. Many of these designs have been discontinued, as Georg Jensen Silversmith, has decided to carry mostly modern designs at the present time. Therefore, the old art nouveau designs are very desirable, and also very beautiful. The 50s designs, (many of which have been discontinued) are also wonderful. We try to carry art nouveau and 50s work. All are authentic Georg Jensen items from Denmark, and have the correct markings, guaranteed as represented.

Georg Jensen started his workshop in Denmark in 1904. Shortly after this, Jensen's work was exhibited at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art, including his jewelry, with great success. This success was followed by many exhibitions internationally. During the first years, brooches, rings, necklaces, and bracelets were made and sold to the Danish women. In 1913, Johan Rohde was hired as a designer for Jensen. He designed Jewelry as well as flatware and hollowware. Since then, there have been many talented designers working for the firm. Between 1915 and to the present, Jensen's work has been featured in the United States and Europe. After Jensen died in 1935, the company continued to do business, and has kept it's wonderful reputation, operating today. Much information can be obtained in the informative book Georg Jensen, A tradition of Splendid Silver, by Janet Drucker.

We try to keep a special selection of Georg Jensen gold, silver, bracelets, necklaces, and pins for your shopping enjoyments. Enjoy looking at the Georg Jensen jewelry on my site.
